Who we are
Guardian Nest is a parental-control and digital-wellbeing app published by Zahid Raza ("we", "us"). Contact: zahidraza993@gmail.com.
Information stored on your devices
When you use Guardian Nest, the following is stored locally on the device where you enter it:
- Your family name and your first name.
- Your children's first names, ages, optional avatars and the rules you set (daily limits, routines, pauses).
- Alerts and an activity history of events such as limits reached or routines starting.
- On a child's device, a parent PIN. It is stored only as a salted, one-way hash in the iOS Keychain, so the PIN itself is never stored.
- Your app preferences, such as Light or Dark appearance.
We do not receive this information.
Screen Time and app usage
Guardian Nest uses Apple's Screen Time frameworks (Family Controls, Managed Settings and Device Activity) to apply limits and routines on a child's device after a parent approves access with their Apple Account. App and website usage is processed by iOS on the child's device. Usage charts and reports are shown only on that device and are never uploaded to iCloud, to us or to anyone else. App selections are stored by iOS as private tokens that do not reveal app names to us.
iCloud sync between parent and child devices
If you link a child's device, Guardian Nest uses Apple's CloudKit to store the following in your private iCloud account, shared only with the Apple Account you invite:
- The child's rules: daily limits, routines and pause settings.
- Device status: when the device was last seen, whether Screen Time access is on, whether it is paused, whether today's limit was reached and which routine is active.
- Requests for more time and your responses.
- Important events, such as a daily limit being reached or Screen Time access being turned off.
This data is handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. We cannot access it. You can stop sharing at any time from the child's profile, by removing the child, or by deleting your account in the app.
Sign in with Apple
Signing in is optional. If you choose Sign in with Apple, Apple shares your name and a private account identifier with the app. The identifier is stored in the iOS Keychain on your device. We do not request your email address.
Notifications
With your permission, Guardian Nest shows notifications, for example when a routine starts or when a child asks for more time. Notifications between linked devices are delivered by Apple's push notification service through iCloud.
Purchases
Guardian Nest Premium is a one-time purchase processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment details. The app checks your purchase with Apple to unlock Premium features.
Advertising
On the free plan, Guardian Nest shows banner ads on the parent's device using Google AdMob. Ads are never shown on a child's device, during setup, or to Guardian Nest Premium owners. Where required by law, for example in the EEA and UK, Google's consent form asks for your choices before any ads load, and you can change them later in Settings › Ad Privacy Choices. Google may collect information such as device identifiers, IP address and ad interactions to deliver, measure and limit ads. Guardian Nest does not ask iOS for permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and Google's Privacy Policy.
Analytics
Guardian Nest does not use third-party analytics. The app records the names of a few anonymous product events, such as "onboarding completed", in the device's own system log for troubleshooting. These records contain no personal information and are not sent to us.
Children's privacy
Guardian Nest is intended for parents and guardians. A parent sets up Guardian Nest on a child's device and approves Screen Time access with their own Apple Account. Guardian Nest shows the child that their device is managed and which rules are active. We do not collect personal information from children, and the child's information is stored only on the family's devices and in the parent's private iCloud account as described above.
Retention and deletion
- Information stays on your devices and in your iCloud until you delete it.
- Settings › Delete Account and Data removes your family, children, rules and alerts from the device and deletes the shared iCloud data, which unlinks your children's devices.
- Removing a child from your family deletes that child's shared iCloud data.
- On a child's device, Parent Controls › Remove Guardian Nest From This Device turns off all limits and leaves the family link.
- Deleting the app removes its local data from that device.
Security
Guardian Nest relies on iOS security features, including the Keychain, data protection and Apple's encrypted iCloud services. The parent PIN is protected with a salted key-derivation function, and repeated wrong attempts lock the PIN temporarily.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal information. Because your information is stored on your devices and in your iCloud account, you can view, change or delete it directly in the app. For anything else, email us at zahidraza993@gmail.com. For data held by Apple or Google, you can also contact them directly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Guardian Nest changes. We will update the effective date above, and significant changes will be highlighted in the app or on this page.
