Getting started

What do I need before I start?

Your child must be in your Family Sharing group as a child, using their own Apple Account on their iPhone or iPad. Both devices need a recent version of iOS, and iCloud must be turned on if you want to link them.

How do I set up my child's device?

Install Guardian Nest on your child's device and choose "My child's device". Tap Allow Screen Time Access and approve with your Apple Account, enter your child's name and age, choose the apps that count toward the daily limit, and create a parent PIN. Do this together with your child.

How do I link my child's device to my phone?

On your phone, open your child's profile and tap "Invite [name]'s Device". Send the invite to the Apple Account your child uses. Open the invite on your child's device and Guardian Nest links automatically. After that, limits, routines and pauses you set on your phone sync to their device.

Why can't I see my child's app usage on my phone?

To protect privacy, iOS keeps Screen Time usage data on the device where it happens. Open Guardian Nest on your child's device, tap the lock, enter your parent PIN and choose Weekly Insights. Your phone shows device status, such as whether today's limit was reached.

Using Guardian Nest

How do requests for more time work?

Your child taps Ask for More Time. If the device is linked, they can send the request to you. You'll get a notification and can approve 15 or 30 minutes or decline it in the Alerts tab. If you're nearby, you can instead approve it on your child's device with your parent PIN.

What happens during a routine like Bedtime or School?

During a routine, only the apps you allow can be used. Phone calls and emergency features always keep working. You choose the allowed apps in Parent Controls on your child's device.

A change I made didn't reach my child's device yet.

Changes sync through iCloud, usually within a few minutes. Make sure both devices are online and signed in to iCloud. Opening Guardian Nest on either device, or pulling down to refresh, starts a sync straight away.

I forgot my parent PIN.

For security, the PIN can't be recovered. After five wrong attempts it locks for five minutes. If you can't remember it, delete Guardian Nest from your child's device (iOS asks for your Apple Account approval), then reinstall it and set it up again with a new PIN.

Does my child know their device is managed?

Yes. Guardian Nest is designed to be transparent. Your child can see that their device is managed and which rules are active. Guardian Nest can't read messages, photos or content inside other apps.

How do I restore my purchase?

How do I ask for a refund?

Your data

How do I delete my data?

Open Settings › Delete Account and Data. This removes your family's information from the device and from iCloud and unlinks your children's devices. See the Privacy Policy for details.
